Plagiarism Policy

Asian Journal of Research in Economics and Finance (AJREF) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. All submitted manuscripts undergo strict plagiarism screening to ensure originality and proper scholarly conduct.

1. Plagiarism Check

Every manuscript submitted to AJREF is checked using advanced plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools).
The screening is conducted before peer review.

2. Acceptable Similarity Index

The journal follows the standard international threshold:

  • Overall similarity must be below 20%

  • No single source should exceed 5%

  • References, bibliographies, and commonly used phrases may be excluded from the count

Manuscripts exceeding the allowed similarity limits will be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright.

3. Types of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following as serious ethical violations:

  • Direct plagiarism: Copying text without citation

  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without disclosure

  • Mosaic plagiarism: Paraphrasing too closely to the original text

  • Image/data plagiarism: Using tables, figures, or datasets without permission or citation

  • Duplicate submission: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously

4. Actions Taken in Case of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected before publication:

  • The manuscript may be rejected immediately.

  • Authors may be given the opportunity to revise if the issue is minor.

If plagiarism is detected after publication:

  • The article may be retracted.

  • A retraction notice will be issued on the journal website.

  • Authors may be blacklisted for future submissions.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that:

  • Their work is original and properly cited

  • Permissions are obtained for copyrighted materials

  • All co-authors approve the submitted version

6. Penalties for Serious Violations

For cases of severe plagiarism (e.g., more than 25% similarity or intentional misconduct), the journal may:

  • Notify the authors’ affiliated institutions

  • Ban all authors from submitting for a specified period

  • Report the misconduct to indexing and academic bodies

7. Ethical Compliance

AJREF adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for handling all plagiarism-related matters.
